The film «Quantum of Light» immerses you in the wonderful world of LIGHT, a phenomenon familiar to everyone, but full of mysteries and mysteries that more than one generation of scientists has been trying to solve. Our story is about the work of the scientific group of Kazan University under the leadership of Professor Sergey Kharintsev. Scientists are sure that there are huge reserves of energy and information hidden inside the substance, which humanity has not yet learned how to extract. The key to these riches will be the quantum of light, and quantum photonics will turn the world of technology around, just as microelectronics once changed the world. In the course of their research, scientists discover that the unique experiments on the interaction of light with matter conducted in the USSR in the 1980s were undeservedly forgotten, and were ahead of their time by a whole decade. Professor Kharintsev sets ambitious goals for himself and his students – to study, experiment and offer technologies that will change the world and improve people's lives, treat incurable diseases and generate cheap electric energy. «Quantum of Light» is not only about scientific experiments, but also deep philosophical reflections on the human mission, the true values and possibilities of science. The film unites three generations of scientists, highlighting how light can transform the understanding of nature and technology.
