"The Man from Kulaly Island" is a documentary film produced by the Documentary Film Center of the Television and Radio Complex of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. It tells the story of Pyotr Ivanovich Lupenkov, the head of a hydrometeorological station located on one of the most remote and hard-to-reach islands of the Caspian Sea. For more than thirty years, he has lived on Kulaly – a place without city noise, mobile communication, or modern conveniences, but filled with the sea, the wind, and a lifelong devotion to his work.
