"Why breed poverty?" — this is a question often heard by parents of 14 children, Anatoly and Elena Zagrush. In modern society, having a large family is no longer the norm, while global birth rates decline as the world ages. Through observing the lives of our protagonists, we get a glimpse into their family world. They live on Lake Baikal and get along harmoniously. The children are hardworking, help each other, and earn money by picking berries, but the family faces prejudice because of their many children. The film aims to show that having many children does not necessarily mean poverty — it can be an example of a full and meaningful life, where children are given a chance and grow up to be independent.
