The milestone 25 edition of the Baikal International Film Festival «People and Environment» named after V.G. Rasputin will take place in Irkutsk from September 14 to 22, 2026. Its competition program will feature documentary, popular-science, animated, fiction, and fulldome films. The festival shortlist includes 27 films: eight documentaries, five popular science films, four fiction films, and 10 animated films. As is customary, the fulldome program and jury lineup were finalized in mid-August. Eight competition films will screen at the Great Irkutsk Planetarium (School No. 19) and the Noosphere Planetarium (130th Quarter), and four more films will screen out of competition.

Four additional films will screen out of competition: three Russian films— “Eva”; “Exoplanets: Worlds Beyond the Sun” (Grand Novosibirsk Planetarium named after cosmonaut cosmonaut Anna Kikina); and Parade of Planets (Nizhny Novgorod Planetarium named after G. M. Grechko, directed by Dmitry Pankin)—and one German film, “The Dark Matter Mystery: Exploring a Cosmic Secret” (Laupheim Planetarium, Germany).
The full-dome film jury of the Baikal Film Festival “People and Environment” comprises Dmitry Pankin, a fulldome film director and head of the Digital Program Production Department at the Nizhny Novgorod Planetarium (Jury Chair); Yulia Byvsheva, a member of the Union of Cinematographers of the Russian Federation and head of the directing workshop at the Irkutsk branch of the Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography (VGIK); and VR project producer Kirill Kazakov.
The 25 Baikal International Film Festival “People and Environment” named after V.G. Rasputin will take place in Irkutsk from September 14 to 22 with support from the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives, the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the Government of the Irkutsk Region, and the Ministry of Culture of the Irkutsk Region. Its principal partner is the Irkutsk Oil Company.
The Baikal International Film Festival “People and Environment” named after V. G. Rasputin is organized by the Irkutsk Regional Film Fund, “Irkutskkino” LLC, and the “Kinoforum” non-profit organization.
