The winners of the Baikal Film Festival “People and Environment” have been announced

The winners of the 23rd Baikal International Film Festival "People and Environment" named after V. G. Rasputin were announced at the closing ceremony. Roman Kolesov, First Deputy Governor of the Irkutsk Region, congratulated them on behalf of the head of the region. The Baikal Film Festival "People and Environment" has completed the screening of the festival program. 30 films from 11 countries took part in it. Screenings took place at the venues of the Cinema House, New Cinema, Irkutsk museums and planetariums. The Grand Prix of the film forum is 500 thousand rubles, this year the Russian documentary film by Moscow director Tatyana Soboleva "Against the Wind" won. The Mikhail Romm Prize for the best documentary film was awarded to the film "The Last Nomads" (Romania) directed by Dragos Lumpan. In the nomination "Best Popular Science Film", the Ivan Chersky Prize was awarded to documentary filmmakers from Portugal Miguel Cortez Costa and Carolina Castro Almeida for the film "The Wild Ones". The best feature film was the work of Russian director Ivan Sosnin "The Alien". He was awarded the Leonid Gaidai Prize. The award for the best animated film for the work "The Transformation of Ana" by Joao Rodriguez (Portugal). The Don Othello Prize for the best full-dome film by Russian director Andrey Lobanov "The Galaxy and its Population". Also in the genre of full-dome cinema, the jury awarded a diploma to the work of director from the Republic of Belarus Yulia Gorbach "Kazimir Malevich's Universe". For the severity of the environmental problem posed, the Baikal Prize was awarded to the film "Yard Bears of Transylvania" directed by Boas Schwartz from Germany. The youth and media jury, as the best, awarded prizes to Natalia Savras's documentary "Vacation" (Russia). The Audience Award was awarded to Dmitry Shpilenok's documentary "The Fiery Fox" (Russia). In addition, special prizes were awarded: from the jury - for the promising debut of young director Alice Sokolova (Russia) for the documentary "975"; from the Union of Cinematographers of the Russian Federation for a vivid contribution to the development of regional cinema - a feature film directed by Mikhail Lukachevsky (Russia) "Where the Sterkhs Dance"; from the Irkutsk regional branch of the Russian Geographical Society and the Institute of Geography named after Sochava SB RAS and from the partner of the Russian Railways Film Festival - the popular science film "Nevechnaya Permafrost" by Yana Rubanovskaya (Russia). For the first time this year, the Conservationists Foundation became a partner of the film festival. The prize for the best environmental film from the Foundation was awarded to the film "The Master of the Altai Mountains" directed by Vadim Vitovtsev and Ilya Tsyganov. This film also received an award from the Irkutsk regional branch of the All-Russian Fund for Nature Protection.

The prize from the Irkutsk Regional Museum of Local Lore named after Muravyov-Amursky "For serving the ideals of faith, conscience and beauty" was awarded to the Iranian film "Standing with the Wolf" by Saeid Nabi, director, Maryam Khadivi Boruojeni , co-director.

— This year, the festival program was presented with films of various genres from Russia, Iran, Great Britain, Portugal, Germany, Romania, Canada, Belgium, Uruguay, the Republic of Belarus, Spain and South Korea. Most of the works, with such a vast geography, were united by the theme of the need to preserve ethnic diversity. A separate page of the film forum program was devoted to the topic of the Arctic, the identity of the peoples who have been shaping the ecology of this region for centuries," said Andrey Salnikov, director of the Irkutsk Regional Film Fund. - A round table was devoted to the Arctic theme and the role of cinema in preserving the culture of the indigenous peoples of Siberia, which was attended by special guests of the festival - stars of Yakut ethnomusicology Varvara Stepanova and Valentina Romanova. Two popular Russian theater and film actors Euclid Kurdzidis and Andrey Chernyshov also became guests of the festival this year. The jury of the 23rd Baikal Film Forum "Man and Nature" this year included film critic, producer, editor-in-chief of the Lenfilm Studio Andrey Apostolov, associate professor of the Beijing Film Academy Hongyun Sun (China), screenwriter and director of non-fiction films Hakan Aytekin (Turkey), professor, producer, playwright, director Dragan Milinkovich Fimon (Serbia-France), Russian director Daria Khrenova. As part of the film festival, the Cinema House also hosted the 10th anniversary Baikal pitching of film projects, where young directors and screenwriters presented ideas for future films. Of the 12 competitive works in the Feature Film nomination, the project "Pies are not refundable" by Arseniy Kustov (Moscow) won, two works were recognized as the best in the Documentary Film nomination: "Timchenov in Cuba" by Alina Kovalenko, Alisa Kletsova, Alexey Grominsky (Irkutsk) and "Inner Island" by Maria Filicheva (Irkutsk).
