Application deadline for the Baikal pitching of film projects extended until September 1
The selection round of applications for the Baikal pitching* of film projects has been extended until September 1 inclusive. Applications are accepted through the online platform https://script.moviestart.ru/competition/single/124. To date, more than seventy applications have been received from different cities of Russia: Irkutsk, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Rostov-on-Don, Samara, Tyumen, Ufa, Surgut, Bryansk, Yekaterinburg, Donetsk, etc. The competition is expanding its boundaries and for the first time this year, applications have been received from Germany, Greece and Moldova.
Works in the following categories will be accepted for consideration:
Feature Films – synopses/scripts for feature films up to 30 minutes long and synopses/scripts for full-length feature films. The prize is 300 thousand rubles for partial or full implementation of the project:
- 150 thousand rubles in cash;
- 150 thousand rubles as a certificate for technical support of the project or for the services of a recording studio.
Documentary films — synopses and director's explications/scripts of documentary films. The prize in each category is 300 thousand rubles for partial or full implementation of the project:
- 150 thousand rubles in cash;
- 150 thousand rubles as a certificate for technical support of the project or for the services of a recording studio.
Applications and scripts must be in Russian. Works that are supposed to be filmed in the Irkutsk region, in the subjects of the Siberian Federal District and the Far Eastern Federal District, or in co-production with Irkutsk filmmakers will be accepted for consideration.
The work of the selection committee will begin on September 2. The selection committee will include:
- screenwriter, creative producer of the company "Mouvistart" Alina Nigmatullina (Moscow);
- leading producer of the competition "Russia - a look into the future" of the Fund for the Support of Regional Cinematography Olga Filonova (Moscow).
The shortlist of documentaries and feature films will be announced on September 3. The projects will be defended on September 18 in the Great Hall of the Cinema House as part of the 23rd Baikal International Film Festival "Man and Nature" named after V.G. Rasputin. Starts at 11:00. Admission is free.
Before defending their projects, participants of the anniversary pitching will have a rich educational program, including online training with recommendations on defending their projects.
On September 19, the Great Hall of the Cinema House will host master classes by the Chairman of the Expert Council, Yuri Yashnikov (Irkutsk), and the member of the Expert Council, Natalia Averina (Moscow):
11:00 - Master class by Natalia Averina "Secrets, habits, actions. How to create a believable character?";
12:00 - Master class by Yuri Yashnikov "Making films in Siberia. And with what money?"
The master classes are intended for pitching participants, as well as for anyone interested in modern film production.
For the Pitching participants, editor, creative producer and screenwriter Daria Pavlotos will conduct a separate master class on project analysis.
In honor of the project's tenth anniversary, the organizers have prepared a gift for the pitching participants: from September 17 to 20, 2024, out-of-town shortlist participants (one participant from each project) will receive paid airfare.
